Macomb Correctional Release Status

Macomb Correctional Facility is a Michigan Department of Corrections men’s prison. People held there are state prisoners, not Macomb County Jail inmates. When a person leaves the secure facility on parole, the sentence continues under MDOC supervision. When OTIS shows discharged, the displayed MDOC supervision has ended. Those two outcomes are not interchangeable.

A third status also needs care. “Paroled in custody” means Michigan parole status has been granted while another jurisdiction still physically holds the person. It does not prove community presence. Read the status, date, and location together. The receiving or supervising office can identify the next authority when the result does not point to ordinary community parole.

Search Macomb Correctional Releases

The correct public route is the Offender Tracking Information System, known as OTIS. Search by MDOC number when available because it is the strongest identifier. Name search supports last name, first name, sex, race, age, marks, scars or tattoos, and a status filter. The default active-offender view can omit a discharged person.

1. Open OTIS and enter the MDOC number or at least the required part of the last name.
2. Select All, Parolees, or Discharged when looking for a person who may have left prison.
3. Open the offender-number result and compare identity, offense, sentence, status, and location.
4. Read DATE PAROLED separately from EARLIEST RELEASE DATE and MAXIMUM DISCHARGE DATE.
5. Use the location link for the prison or supervising-office contact, then request MDOC records if formal proof is needed.

OTIS permits a wildcard after at least three initial surname characters. Its age filter covers a range around the entered age, and exact marks or tattoo text can be brittle. A common-name result should be matched by date of birth, MDOC number, and sentence details before drawing a conclusion.

Macomb Correctional Record Fields

The OTIS detail can show the MDOC number, current legal name, birth date, sex, race, controlling statute, offense and sentence information, location, status, and an offender photo when available. Older or incomplete photo records may not include an image. The exact date labels carry separate meanings and should remain unchanged when notes are saved.

Macomb Prison Versus Jail Records

The official OTIS information page says the system covers prisoners, parolees, supervised probationers, absconders, and people within three years after discharge. It excludes county-jail and city-lockup prisoners, jail-only sentences, people convicted but not yet sentenced, exempt information, and people more than three years beyond supervision discharge.

Macomb JailTracker has the opposite local role. It is the Sheriff’s current county custody system and does not cover Macomb Correctional Facility. A person does not become a county jail inmate merely because the MDOC prison sits in the same county. If the history includes both facilities, treat them as separate custody events with separate identifiers and records.

The Macomb County released inmate search separates those local and state routes in more detail. Begin with the agency that last held the person. A county booking calls for MCSO and court records. A state sentence calls for OTIS and MDOC. When one record reports a transfer, carry the receiving agency and date into the next search instead of treating the transfer as community release.

Request Macomb Correctional Records

OTIS is a public index, not the complete agency file. For a documentary release or discharge record, email MDOC-FOIA@michigan.gov or write the MDOC FOIA Coordinator, P.O. Box 30003, Lansing, MI 48909. Give the full name, MDOC number, precise record, date range, and preferred electronic format. Useful items can include a discharge certificate, Basic Information Sheet, Judgment of Sentence, date-paroled record, and available photo.

MDOC calls its certified compilation a PENPACK. Some parts, such as a presentence report, may be confidential or redacted, so no request guarantees every component. Current-prisoner record questions use Corr_Records_Info@michigan.gov. The department directs past-prisoner records up to six years after release to MDOC-Records_Retention@michigan.gov.

Under the MDOC FOIA process, qualifying labor may be charged at the lowest capable rate in 15-minute increments, along with ten cents per paper page and actual media or postage. MDOC policy waives totals of $50 or less and may require a 50-percent deposit above $50. Statutory reductions may apply.

Macomb Correctional Release Dates

Michigan uses an indeterminate sentencing structure for many prison terms, with a judicial minimum and maximum. Serving the minimum can create parole eligibility, but it does not require the Michigan Parole Board to grant release. The Board must make the finding required by state law. That is why the OTIS earliest release date and a parole decision should never be reported as if either were the completed prison exit.

Michigan’s truth-in-sentencing rule is also not a general rule that every person serves 85 percent. Official MDOC guidance says covered assaultive crimes committed on or after December 15, 1998, and other covered crimes committed on or after December 15, 2000, require service of the full judicial minimum before parole consideration. Modern covered terms do not reduce that minimum through good time or disciplinary credits. Older terms can involve different credit rules based on offense date and type.

A date can change meaning as the record develops. EARLIEST RELEASE DATE concerns eligibility. DATE PAROLED records the actual parole event or formal parole status. MAXIMUM DISCHARGE DATE is the potential controlling maximum. Status and location then show whether the person is in prison, in community supervision, held elsewhere, or discharged. Use all four parts before describing a Macomb Correctional Facility release.

Correct Macomb Correctional Records

MDOC warns that OTIS information may be incomplete, untimely, or inaccurate. Send concerns about inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete content to correctionsinfo@michigan.gov. Technical problems go to the MDOC webmaster. If the disputed item came from a judgment or sentence, the sentencing court may be the proper source for correction. Current supervision errors should be raised with the office linked from the OTIS location.

Preserve the offender number, exact field, displayed status, and date checked. A screenshot or saved response helps show what needs review, but a later corrected state record controls. Do not treat a missing result as proof that no MDOC history exists, especially when the person may be beyond OTIS’s three-year post-discharge public window.

Formal documentation can remain available after the public OTIS window closes. Use the past-prisoner retention contact for the period MDOC identifies, and ask the department where older archival material should be sought. State the date range and exact document needed so the request is routed correctly.

Macomb Correctional Parole Records

A parole result should include DATE PAROLED and a location that points to the supervising office. Macomb County is in MDOC Region 10 Northeast. The Macomb Parole Office is at 15950 East 12 Mile Road in Roseville, phone 586-773-1209. Use that office only when the OTIS location or MDOC routing identifies it. A home address alone does not establish the assigned office.

Successful parole completion leads to discharge from the sentence. A parole grant, however, does not by itself prove the person physically left prison. Prerequisites can remain, and a decision can change before release. Verify the actual event through DATE PAROLED, current status, the location field, and a state document where needed.
