Find Macomb County Released Inmates

Macomb County released inmates do not all appear in one lasting public list. To search for Macomb County released inmates, first identify whether the person left the county jail, a city lockup, a Michigan prison, or federal or immigration custody. Macomb County released inmates may then be traced through a release transaction, court disposition, state corrections status, supervision record, or custody notification. Each source proves a different event. A careful Macomb County released inmate search matches the person and the last custodian, then checks the record that can confirm release, transfer, parole, or discharge.

Understanding Macomb County Releases

A person is released from a specific custodian when that agency stops holding the person. That event does not always mean the person entered the community. Someone may leave Macomb County Jail on bond, after time served, after dismissal, or under a court order. The Sheriff may instead transfer the person to the Michigan Department of Corrections, another county, federal authorities, or immigration custody. A name that vanishes from JailTracker therefore shows only that the person is not visible on that live roster at the time checked.

The record must name both the event and its scope. A county release transaction can confirm when Macomb County custody ended. A court order can show the legal basis. An OTIS parole record can show release from a Michigan prison with supervision still in force. A BOP result can show that federal custody ended while leaving open the chance of another hold. This distinction protects against treating transfer, parole, discharge, and community release as the same outcome.

Bond release
Physical release while the criminal case and stated conditions continue.
Time served
Completion of the custodial term, though another case or probation may remain.
Parole
Release from state prison while the sentence continues under MDOC supervision.
Discharge
The end of the displayed MDOC supervision for that sentence.
Detainer
A hold that may let a second agency take custody when the first agency releases the person.

Macomb County Release Paths

Macomb County release records should preserve the kind of event instead of reducing all outcomes to “released.” The next source depends on the path. A bond receipt can show payment, but it does not show the time jail staff finished processing. A dismissal can end the charge yet still leave another hold. A transfer ends one booking while custody continues elsewhere. Death is also a possible reason that an agency record ends and must never be described as entry into the community.

Bond or recognizance
The person leaves jail while the case continues. Match the court bond order to the Sheriff release transaction.
Time served or sentence end
The local custodial term is complete. Compare the judgment with the jail release record.
Dismissal
The charging disposition changed. Use the signed court order and the release transaction.
Transfer
Macomb custody ended but another custodian received the person. Follow the receiving agency record.
Parole
A state prisoner left secure custody under supervision. Read OTIS status, DATE PAROLED, and office location together.
Discharge
The displayed state supervision ended. Confirm through OTIS and an MDOC discharge record.

The sequence may contain more than one true event. A judge may authorize bond, jail staff may finish the release hours later, and a second authority may accept a transfer at the door. Each record answers a different question. The sound conclusion states which office reported which event.

Macomb County Release Record Fields

A focused request asks for the booking-and-release transaction, not a vague inmate file. Give the full legal name, date of birth if known, booking or jacket number, case number, and an approximate date range. Ask for the booking photograph as a separate item because it may be stored or processed apart from the transaction.

FieldWhat it can establish
Booking date and timeWhen the covered custody interval began
Release date and timeWhen that custodian recorded the exit
Booking, jacket, or inmate numberThe specific custody record matched to the person
Release type or dispositionBond, time served, transfer, or another maintained reason
Releasing authorityThe office or order that authorized the event
Destination or receiving agencyWhether custody may have continued elsewhere, if maintained

Macomb County also offers a proof-of-incarceration document. Its public description does not promise every field in the table. Before relying on it as the full release record, ask whether it states both the beginning and end of the custody interval and whether time is included.

Request Macomb County Release Records

The Macomb County Sheriff Records Office accepts written Michigan FOIA requests at records.mcso@macombcountymi.gov. A precise request is easier to search and separates the release transaction from any requested booking photograph. Court records use a different route because Michigan courts are not public bodies under FOIA.

  1. Identify the person and booking with the strongest known numbers and date range.
  2. Request booking and release date and time, release type, releasing authority, and destination or receiving agency if maintained.
  3. Ask for the associated booking photograph as a separate record when needed.
  4. Choose an electronic format and ask for an estimate before work begins if cost matters.
  5. Compare the Sheriff response with the relevant district or Circuit Court order.

The county must respond within five business days by granting, denying, granting in part, or taking one extension of up to ten business days. That clock governs the response, not always the date a large set of records will be produced. A denial must state its legal basis and appeal rights, while releasable portions should be separated from exempt material.

The official Records Office screen shows its FOIA channel, hours, and proof-of-incarceration service.

Macomb County Release Record Fees

Macomb County charges $4 for proof of incarceration. That figure is not a flat fee for a full release transaction or a booking photo. FOIA charges can include the lowest-paid capable employee’s qualifying labor in 15-minute increments, ten cents per paper page, actual media, and postage. Partial labor increments are rounded down under the county procedure.

A 50-percent good-faith deposit may be required when the estimated total exceeds $50. Requesters who need only the release event can reduce search work by giving the booking number, case number, and narrow dates. Ask the office to distinguish a proof-of-incarceration document from the full booking-and-release transaction before paying.

The $4 service and a full FOIA production are different products. Confirm which record contains the needed release date, time, and disposition.

Macomb County Bond Release Timing

Macomb County publishes no fixed daily release hour. The Sheriff’s bond instructions warn that release can take several hours after bond is posted, depending on jail activity and the person’s assigned unit. Payment proves a bond event. It does not prove the physical exit time.

When timing matters, preserve the receipt, note the court or Sheriff channel used, and ask MCSO when the release transaction was completed. A live-roster change may lag the work inside the jail, while a court order may precede the actual exit. No estimate should replace the recorded release time.

Note: A posted bond and a completed Macomb County release are related events, but they are not the same timestamp.

Macomb County Bond Release Routes

The payment route changes with court hours. Most bonds go to the relevant court during court hours, subject to the published Circuit Court and Friend of Court exceptions. The Sheriff route applies outside that path under MCSO instructions. The jail lists online or phone, cash, cashier’s check, card, and surety-agent channels, with bond staff available at 586-307-9612.

The correct court depends on the case. Macomb County criminal matters start across ten district courts for arraignments, misdemeanors, bond, and felony preliminary proceedings. A felony bound over for trial then moves into the 16th Judicial Circuit. The payment source and court docket help explain authorization, while the Sheriff transaction confirms when county custody ended.

Find Macomb County Released Inmates

Begin with the last known custodian. The official Macomb JailTracker gateway covers present county jail custody. Warren and Roseville have separate municipal detention paths. OTIS covers Michigan prisoners and supervised offenders, not county-jail-only bookings. BOP and ICE each cover only their own federal system.

  1. Search the correct live source and record the check time without treating absence as release proof.
  2. Read status, location, reporting agency, and dates together.
  3. Check the originating district court or Circuit CourtView for bond, disposition, sentence, or release authority.
  4. Request the release transaction from the Sheriff or the discharge record from MDOC.
  5. Use a saved VINE alert as a clue, then confirm the event with the reporting agency.
  6. Follow a reported transfer into OTIS, BOP, ICE, another county, or the receiving municipal record.

A released person normally drops off a current jail roster. A missing name does not distinguish community release from transfer or another hold.

The Macomb County 24-Hour Releases page explains the same-day fallback in detail. For one named person, keep the evidence trail: exact status text, identifier, source, date checked, court record, and agency reply.

Macomb County Release Court Trail

Macomb criminal records are divided among ten district courts and the 16th Circuit Court. District courts handle arraignment, bond, misdemeanors, and felony preliminary steps. A felony that is bound over then appears in Circuit CourtView. MiCOURT Case Search is a starting point for participating district courts, while the county Clerk directs circuit users to CourtView and document ordering.

A docket can show bond authorization, dismissal, judgment, probation, sentence, or later modification. Obtain the signed order when a summary is unclear. Courts are not subject to Michigan FOIA, so use clerk procedures rather than sending a court-record demand to the Sheriff. The court proves what was ordered; the custodian’s release record proves when the order was carried out.

Macomb County Post-Release Programs

Macomb Community Corrections runs pretrial supervision and court-approved community alternatives. The county’s Safe and Healthy Macomb work also describes intake assessment, diversion, and treatment-oriented local services. These programs help explain a community supervision path, but participation is not proof that a named person was released.

Parole and probation require a different check. Parole follows release from an MDOC prison while the sentence continues. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence and may occur without prison. OTIS status and the linked supervising-office location provide person-level evidence. The Macomb County Post-Release Supervision page gives the Region 10 verification route.

Macomb County Release Property Rules

The Sheriff’s inmate-services page distinguishes valuables from clothing and limits each rule to its stated setting. An in-custody person may authorize release of valuables during the published 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. window. That is not a broad promise of property pickup after release.

When someone transfers to prison, boxed property is held for an authorized pickup for only 14 days and then disposed of. This transfer rule matters because leaving Macomb County Jail may lead into MDOC custody instead of the community. Ask MCSO which rule applies before making travel plans.

Macomb County Jail Release Rebuild

Macomb County is building a $228 million Central Intake and Assessment Center. Official county material describes intake and release functions, separate secure and public circulation, court-intake beds, medical and mental-health areas, and space tied to community corrections and general custody. County updates have described a 2027 trajectory.

The project is facility context, not a new public release database. Until Macomb County publishes a different access tool, the released-person path remains JailTracker for present custody, MCSO Records for the transaction, and the courts for legal disposition. The county’s construction update shows the planned intake and release setting.

Macomb County Custody Source Comparison

No source covers every Macomb County released person. Choose the row that matches the last known custody and read an absence within that source’s limits.

MI-VINE offers custody information and notifications through VINELink or 800-770-7657. Search Michigan by name or an available offender identifier, compare the agency, facility, date of birth, and ID, then read custody status with the reported event. Registration works best while the person is still held. A registrant can choose available release, transfer, or escape alerts by phone, text, app, email, or TTY. Phone notices use a four-digit PIN followed by # to confirm receipt. The alert remains a clue from the reporting agency, so verify the destination before calling it a community release.

The BOP Inmate Locator searches by register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number, or by name with optional details. A result can show name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. `Released` or `Not in BOP Custody` means BOP custody ended, not that every other hold or supervision term ended. The ICE Online Detainee Locator instead uses a nine-digit A-number plus country of birth, or exact name plus country of birth and optional date of birth. ICE says current and recent custody results may remain for 60 days. An unresolved ODLS search can be taken to 888-351-4024 on weekdays, excluding holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern.

The Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry is a narrow corroboration source for people legally required to register. It can show a photo, identity details, offense information, address, vehicles, and statuses such as Active, Incarcerated, or Absconder. Active status does not prove a Macomb County jail-release date, and most released people are not subject to the registry. It must never be treated as a general released-person list.

For an unresolved federal pretrial path, the U.S. Marshals Service has no public name-based released-person locator. Use the federal case docket, the detention facility or district office, and USMS FOIA as appropriate. Never convert a no-result screen into proof that all custody ended.

Macomb County Release Facilities

Four adult detention paths have clear official support in Macomb County. Each page follows the record system for that facility type.

No federal prison or dedicated ICE detention center was identified inside Macomb County. Federal or immigration authorities may still receive a person from a local custodian, so a reported transfer must be followed in the receiving system.
